At the 2019 Mobile Wold Congress, South Africa's mobile Internet operator, Rain, announced the commercial launch of 5G in South Africa, in September 2019. The company has indicated that it will work with Huawei, which will provide it with technical expertise for the network and will also provide consumers with telecom devices necessary for the experimentation of this new mobile standard.
