Project description
Wizzit is a start-up born in 2002 when the South African Brian Richarson decided to use his experience as a financial expert to help disadvantaged people. He thus finalized in 2004 a mobile application usable on any SIM card of any telephone network thanks to which people that are not equipped informally or living in zones without electricity have access to secured financial services. Indeed, the mobile serves both as a means of payment, financial transaction media (withdrawals, bill payments, prepaid communications) and cash transfers. A solution that combines innovative mobile technologies, business and solidarity, and which has earned the young South African shoot the 2009 NetExplorer Innovation Grand Prix. Today, Wizzit is present in thirteen countries across the globe: South Africa, Albania, Botswana, Cameroon, Honduras, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia.
