M-Kopa

A solar panel installation and energy supply solution facilitated by mobile payment.

Project description

 M-Kopa, founded in Nairobi, offers to install solar panels at home with an initial deposit equivalent to $ 35, then 365 micro-payments of 45 cents on mobile phone, after which the customer becomes the owner . M-KOPA has connected more than 600,000 solar homes at an affordable price, and 500 new homes are added each day. Current customers will realize projected savings of US $ 450 million over the next four years. M-KOPA customers will benefit from 75 million hours of kerosene - free lighting per month.
