The first satellite dedicated to telecommunications in Algeria.

Project description

Alcomsat-1 is a Algerian satellite of telecommunication built by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). It undertakes three missions: broadcasting, improvement of GPS tracking and data transmission. It would thus allow the broadcasting of 200 to 300 TV channels. Its goal is to reduce the GPS' exactitude from five to one meter. The satellite allows an access to an Internet connection at a 10 to 20 Mbps speed. It thereby has an impact on the democratization of several digital uses.
