The Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Postal Services and Mail of Zimbabwe has coerced mobile telephony operators into making their mobile money platform interoperable. During an interview with the newspaper The Herald, on the 20th of February, 2018, the CEO of the telecommunication domain, reinforced this coercion with constraint threats. Currently, Econet's EcoCash, NetOne's OneMoney and Telecel's TeleCash subscribers can only send mobile money to subscribers of the same platform as theirs. For the Minister of Telecommunications "there is no reason why these services wouldn't be interoperable." He thinks that their modus operandi unpleases the public sphere.
