Project description
Shrinkage of "Mbal" which means bin in Wolof and of the abbreviation IT for information technologies, Mb@l-IT is a smart bin that helps sorting out waste. In that end, the bin consists of a technology that allows it to detect the presence of a user and to address them directly in French, and in the local language, to explain to him how to properly sort out their waste. Two Senegalese students, Alioune Badara Mbengue and Papa El Hadji Mandiaye Gningue, that have competed in and won the "55 hours of francophony" thanks to their project considered pertinent for the challenge on the environment and the managing of waste, are at the origins of this project. Besides, Mb@l-IT was also rewarded with the Pitch of Dakar 2018 Prize.
