The Eritrean agriculture, frequently threatened by the invasion of cricket, occupies a key place in the national economy. Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture has established a partnership with the FAO and other regional organisations to fight against these invasions and protect foodstuff production in the country. This project mobilises data analysis technologies to detect variations and trajectories of the insects in order to issue a warning. The FAO, thanks to its information service on the cricket, monitored and predicted eventual threats to foodstuff production and launch the eLocust3 system in Eritrea and other countries. This programm enables national officials to transfer data to the national centre to combat locust invasion, via satellite, thanks to their connected devices, in real-time. The agents of the Ministry was trained to use the system, to foresee, monitor and evaluate crickets’ displacements.
