Adrien Bouillot and Miora Randriambeloma, two former students of Sciences Po Paris, found the startup Chalkboard Education in Accra, Ghana, in 2015 and launch an eponymous e-learning application, dedicated to universities. Targeting remote zones, this service essentially works thanks to the USSD technology, which means its content is available from any kind of device, even the oldest. This service aims at promoting education for all and more precisely the access to higher education in sub-Saharan Africa. Through a mobile application downloadable in universities, students can consult their courses and chat via SMS about these latter. The startup is currently expanding and will soon propose its service in Burkina Faso, Kenya and Nigeria. The young shoot is also implemented in Ivory Coast where its commercialisation is performed towards private organisations.
