When realising how important it is to improve the mobility and the quality of public transports in South Africa, Justin Coetzee created an ergonomic and easy-to-use device available to the most. He founds GloMetro in September, 2012, an interactive platform providing with an overview on traffic, timetables and delays of buses and trains and allowing its users to calculate the price of their trip or send messages to avert others about one’s eventual delay. It provides with time and money gains and revitalises inhabitants as well as it connects cities more efficiently. GoMetro is based in Cape Town, where it is a member of the Silicon Cape Initiative whose aim is to facilitate the users’ mobility and the use of public transports. It won the “Best innovation in a growth market” prize in 2014, the Global Best Practice Award in Transportation Value Added Services prize and the « Frost & Sullivan » prize in 2015. It is also part of the Intelligent Mobility of the United Kingdom since 2017. In 2018, GoMetro consists of 300 000 monthly users.
